Dean Gabourie

Dean is a director, actor, writer, teacher, founding Artistic Director of the Dora Award-winning ACME Theatre Co. and co-founder and Associate Artistic Director of The Co. Dean has directed acclaimed productions for ACME Theatre Co., The Co., Neptune Theatre, Postscript Productions, Queen Mab Theatre, Shakespeare In the Rough and the Stratford Festival of Canada. During four seasons at the Stratford Festival, Mr. Gabourie earned acclaim for his direction of Bereav'd of Light for the Studio Theatre's inaugural season and Overlaid and The Voice of the People for A Robertson Davies Celebration, Dean also Assisted Artistic Director Richard Monette, (All’s Well That Ends Well), and General Director Antoni Cimolino, (Twelfth Night, Loves Labors Lost, Coriolanus) While working at Stratford Dean received the Tyrone Guthrie, Jean Gascon Award. Mr. Gabourie was a member of the 2000 World Stage master class for directors, the Soulpepper directors' training program and is a graduate of Ryerson Theatre School (Chairman's Award) Over the past 15 years Dean has studied the craft of acting and directing with such luminaries as Howard Barker, Peter Brook, Laszlo Marton, Yoshi Oida, Michael Shurtleff and Janet Suzman.
